FMNP Coastal Systems | County of Escambia

The Escambia County Coastal Sustainability and Sea Grant agents are pleased to offer Coastal Systems Training, a hands-on, in-depth education about Florida’s natural environment through the Florida Master Naturalist Program. The FMNP both informs and prepares individuals to share information about Florida’s natural world. Registration for the course is open now through Thursday, March 23. To register, visit https://conference.ifas.ufl.edu/fmnp/ and select "Escambia" from the Coastal Systems course.

The Coastal Systems Module includes classroom instruction, field trips and practical interpretive experience related to the general ecology, habitats, vegetation types, wildlife and conservation issues of coastal systems in Florida. Field trips will include: the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station and Sea Turtle Conservation Center, Pensacola Beach, the EPA Lab and Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Participation in the course is open to adults interested in learning more about Florida’s environment.

Course dates: The course begins Tuesday, March 28, and runs through Tuesday, May 16. Classroom sessions will be held on consecutive Tuesdays (except for Wednesday, April 19) and will meet at several different locations throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Cost: $250 (with digital PDF of manual) or $300 (full color hard copy manual), which includes 40 contact hours of instruction, a comprehensive student reference workbook, and, upon completion, registration in the UF FMNP database as a Coastal Systems Naturalist. A UF/IFAS certificate of achievement, embroidered FMNP patch, and FMNP coastal lapel pin also will be provided at completion of the course.
