A small wildfire damaged one acre of Jones Swamp Wetland Preserve Thursday afternoon. The fire is fully contained, but visitors should avoid the fire area, located off of Patton Drive. Lingering hot spots and smoke will be present throughout the weekend.
There are no reported injuries and no damage to private property. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Florida Forest Service. The Florida Forest Service will continue to monitor the fire throughout the weekend.
