Pensacola Beach Lifeguards Receive Two Search and Rescue Vehicles Courtesy of Pete Moore Chevrolet

41

On Tuesday, April 26, the Pensacola Beach Lifeguards, courtesy of Pete Moore Chevrolet, received two brand-new Chevrolet Colorado four-wheel drive pick-up trucks as part of the "Safe Shores" initiative.

“We are very appreciative for our continued partnership with Pete Moore Chevrolet and for the generous donation of these two Chevy Colorados," said Escambia County District 4 Commissioner Robert Bender. "From the start of our lifeguard program to today, Pete Moore Chevrolet has provided vehicles to keep our shores safe. Our Pensacola Beach lifeguards patrol seven miles of Pensacola Beach every day, and these search and rescue vehicles provide our lifeguards proper transportation to assist in life-saving rescues, adequate storage for equipment and mechanical reliability throughout the busy summer season.”

The “Safe Shores” program is a multi-level public awareness campaign designed to increase safety while decreasing swimming accidents on Pensacola Beach. The campaign consists of weekday flag reports in multiple newscasts on WEAR-ABC 3. These public safety announcements, named “Moore Safe Shores,” will help reinforce the Pensacola Beach Warning Flag system. The continued goal of "Safe Shores” is to help educate the public on beach safety and dangerous surf conditions.

"We graciously accept the two new Colorado trucks provided by Pete Moore Chevrolet for our Water Safety program," said Water Safety Chief Dave Greenwood. "These resources will enable us to accomplish our mission, which is to educate and protect the beachgoers of Pensacola Beach."
