Emerald Coast Utilities Authority issued the following announcement on February 11.
Did you know that flushable wipes aren't really flushable even though many packaging labels state that they are? These wipes don't degrade in the sewer pipes like toilet paper does. These "flushable" wipes can cause clogs and buildup that ultimately lead to blockages, pipe damage, and other major issues such as sewer overflows.
Please help us keep our sewer collection system working efficiently and reduce your risk of a sewer back-up in your home by never flushing any kind of wipes!
Remember, only flush the 3 P's - Pee, Poop, and toilet Paper.
