Newly Hired Corrections Employees to Receive $2,000 Sign-on Bonus

On Thursday, Oct. 14, the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve the amended Recruitment Initiative Pay Policy and designate numerous full-time positions as eligible to receive the Recruitment Incentive. Under the adopted policy, newly hired Escambia County corrections officers, detention assistants and medical professionals will receive a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

The Corrections Department works to provide citizens with excellent protective services and effective criminal justice alternatives that promote a safe environment. The divisions include Detention, Medical and the Work Annex. Learn more about open positions in the corrections department here.

"We hope that by offering this pay incentive, we'll be able to recruit some of the best possible candidates in corrections," said Escambia County Corrections, Chief Powell. "We're looking for applicants who will follow our core values: service, professionalism and vigilance. All dedicated professionals are invited to apply and help make a difference in their community."

The Recruitment Incentive Pay Policy was approved by the Board on May 6, 2021.This proposed Agreement was intended to serve as the mechanism to facilitate the Recruitment Incentive Pay Policy. Candidates who apply for a position in an eligible classification must agree to the terms outlined in the agreement in order to receive the incentive pay.
