City of Pensacola issued the following announcement on September 2.

City Accepting Applications for Pensacola Youth Council Through Sept. 17

The City of Pensacola is accepting applications for the fall cycle of the Pensacola Youth Council, a program for area high school students interested in becoming involved in their community, learning the inner workings of local government and sharpening their leaderships skills. Applications for the program are due Friday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.

The Pensacola Youth Council was created to give Pensacola youth an opportunity to participate in the process of city government through a leadership and service-oriented program for young leaders. The fall program will run for eight months, from October 2021 through May 2022.

To be considered for the Pensacola Youth Council, students must meet the following the requirements: 

  • Be a high school student in Pensacola or Escambia County, Florida during the 2021-2022 academic school year.
  • Submit a complete application by the Friday, Sept. 17 deadline.
The Pensacola Youth Council will consist of 12 members. Selected students must commit to be actively involved in the program. Participation will require after-school, evening and weekend sessions that include, but are not limited to: Pensacola City Council meetings, meetings with the Mayor and designated city staff, educational opportunities and more.
