Neurosurgeon joins Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart in Pensacola
Pensacola, Fla. (Aug. 3, 2021) – Neurosurgeon Frank Farokhi, MD, has joined Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart’s regional network of doctors. Dr. Farokhi will see patients at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola’s Medical Office Building, located at 5153 N. Ninth Ave., Suite 302.
Dr. Farokhi specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery and joins the office of Dr. Maria Toledo, Dr. Ann Carr, Dr. Nathan Kohler, Dr. Christopher Villar and pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Gus Perez. For information or to schedule an appointment, call 850-416-2250.
Dr. Farokhi graduated from Emory University in Atlanta with his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a minor in Spanish. He then received his medical degree from Rush University Medical College in Chicago, where he served as student council representative. He completed residency training in neurosurgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He comes to Pensacola from a spine surgery fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Semmes-Murphey Neurologic & Spine Institute.
His research has been published in medical journals including Neurospine, Case Reports in Hematology and the Public Library of Science. Dr. Farokhi has presented at meetings of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Louisiana Neurosurgical Society. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Farokhi is fluent in Spanish and has served as an interpreter and medical volunteer at community clinics. While in Chicago, he volunteered with an elementary school, creating interactive games to teach children about their internal organs. Dr. Farokhi is passionate about traveling and spent two summers in high school as an exchange student in Japan and a Spanish language and cultural immersion program student in Spain. In his spare time, he enjoys guitar, theater, improvisational comedy, pocket knives and amateur race car driving.
