GULF COAST HEALTH CARE, LLC: Physically Distant—Socially Connected

Social

Gulf Coast Health Care, LLC issued the following announcement on Dec. 3

We’ve learned a lot over the past few months, and each of our centers has done an incredible job dealing with the ongoing pandemic through strong leadership, collaboration and coordination. Everyone from our medical staff and chefs to our wellness and life enrichment teams has approached their area of expert care with unmatched grace and attention to detail.

What to expect this holiday season at Gulf Coast Health Care

Our life enrichment team members have been hard at work (and play) developing new and exciting ways to entertain our patients and keep them physically, mentally and socially engaged throughout this unique holiday season. We’re pulling out all the stops and doing our best to fill some big shoes, as family members won’t be able to gather in person.

For Thanksgiving, we kept the mood light and decked the halls with festive decorations. We encouraged patients to invite their loved ones for porch visits, window visits and plenty of FaceTime calls.

What we’ve found is that FaceTime and other video tools have been an unexpected blessing for so many of our patients. They’ve created a new way for families who may live farther away to keep in touch with their beloved parents and grandparents. Integrating video calls into our centers has been one of the best things to come out of this experience so far—and will definitely continue throughout the pandemic and long after.

Christmas is always a special time at Gulf Coast Health Care (GCHC), and while this year may look different, we’ll have plenty of fun events and activities at each of our centers. Patients will enjoy Christmas carols, holiday parades, holiday-themed crafts and plenty of one-on-one time with our life enrichment team members. We’re also keeping our tissues handy for lots of happy porch and window visits and plenty of FaceTime Christmas wishes.

What are the Gulf Coast Health Care centers doing to improve medical care services?

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve been focused on providing our patients with the highest level of medical care as quickly and efficiently as possible. That’s why we’ve streamlined communications between our nursing staff, medical directors and healthcare providers. This has helped us limit our patients’ exposure to and lower their risk of COVID-19.

We’re also following all prevention guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including following strict handwashing procedures and (in many cases) wearing gowns and gloves when interacting with patients who present symptoms of COVID-19. Our centers are also in close contact with and following the guidance of our local and state health departments.

We believe in helping seniors live bright, full, interesting, and enjoyable lives—and we’re not going to let a pandemic stop us. We have a strong team filled with creative minds and hearts of gold, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
