Gulf Coast Health Care, LLC issued the following announcement on Sept. 2
This week is National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, and the physicians at Gulf Coast Health Care would like to raise awareness of the importance of this effective short-term care. Our rehabilitation teams work hand-in-hand with our physicians and skilled nurses to help patients restore strength, mobility, coordination and balance as well as improve any verbal and visual impairments.
Rehabilitation programs are essential for helping people who have experienced trauma, injury or surgery, as it helps them learn how to care for a body that now works differently, maintain a high level of health to avoid secondary complications and reintegrate themselves into their community.
Outpatient rehabilitation therapy services
After undergoing treatment or surgery, many people need outpatient rehab services to optimize how their body functions. Our therapists develop tailored treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each person they treat. Here are four types of outpatient therapy rehab services we offer through our partnership with Halcyon Rehabilitation:
- Rehabilitation
We provide rehabilitation services before and after surgery to minimize and shorten recovery time as well as promote independence.
- Physical therapy
Physical therapy is noninvasive care that helps people recover from injury, relieve pain, prevent future injuries and manage chronic pain. We focus on restoring, maintaining and promoting overall health, improving strength and coordination, and reducing overall physical disabilities.
- Occupational therapy
This interventional therapy helps promote independence by helping people develop, recover or maintain meaningful, daily activities. Our occupational therapists are dedicated to helping those with health challenges to participate in their daily life to the fullest.
- Speech therapy
Anyone experiencing communication problems including speech, language, voice and swallowing will benefit from speech therapy.
