Rep. Alex Andrade (R-Gulf Breeze) is the sponsor of House Bill 81, a bill regarding reimbursement of school-based services by the Agency for Health Care Administration. The bill will be heard in the House this week.
Andrade's Facebook page states: "Had this law been in place in 2017, it would have resulted in $47 Million more dollars for mental health services in schools alone!"
The summary of the bill states: "Revises provisions relating to reimbursement of school-based services by AHCA to certain school districts & private & charter schools; specifies that U.S. Department of Health & Human Services is authorized to waive certain school-based provider qualifications."
The AHCA's Medicaid School District Claiming Guide states: "The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), the Florida Department of Education (DOE) and individual school districts share in the responsibility for promoting access to health care for students in the public school system by preventing costly or long term health care problems for at risk students, and coordinating students’ health care needs with other providers."
House Bill 7045 regarding prescription drug transparency will also be heard in its final committee this week.
